NGD#4 – Ibanez RG2EX1
This one really goes to show that you do not need to spend a ton of cash in order to get a great guitar. I mean, just look at the pictures, this Ibanez looks like something any pro would play — and some of them probably would! The thing even came stock with EMG designed pickups. What did the owner say about it?

Tell Us About Your New Guitar:
She’s an Ibanez RG2EX1 and her name is Selene. She may not be a $1k+ guitar, but she sure does play like one… Whoever crafted her at that Cort Factory in Indonesia back in 2006 was being very careful and masterful with their work that day. Right now, she has her stock EMG Designed pickups, but those are to be replaced by Seymour Duncans or DiMarzios someday. I would also swap the tuners to locking ones; not that the stock ones are bad, but I’d rather have the confidence of locking tuners.Story:
I was browsing eBay one day when I came about a new Buy It Now post for an RG2EX1 for $176 including a guitar stand (about $30), and a Monster instrument cable (about $20). I quickly established communication with the seller, and bought her the next day.
What he says about the craft person that built it on whatever particular day it had been done is so true. I find that you can sometimes take the same brand and model of guitar made in different times, say the same year but not the same month, and sometimes you can find that one is considerably better than the other. This has to do with a lot of different things going on — availability of wood at that particular time, mood of the builder on that particular day (maybe he/she got lucky the night before and is in a really good mood!), the temperature on the day the necks or bodies were made (temperature has a huge effect on wood), and a number of other things. This is why it is very important to play a guitar before you buy it. Of course, in the case of this one we are showing now, that was not possible since it was eBay, but hey….it was a deal that he didn’t want to pass up and I probably would have done the same thing. Sweet guitar and a damn good price (with accessories included!).
