Need An Acoustic Guitar Strap?

So you just got a new acoustic, or have dusted off an old one and want to “strap it on” instead of just sitting down and resting the thing on your lap. Well, you probably need an acoustic guitar strap for those cheap acoustic guitars.

If you have an expensive guitar, say a Martin, and you want to make sure the guitar strap acoustic is secure, you may find a Martin leather acoustic guitar strap button that would do the trick. You definitely don’t want the guitar falling off yourself and landing on the ground!

Before you head down to the guitar shop, you might want to take a look at your acoustic guitar first to see what exactly you need. First, you will most definitely have an acoustic guitar strap button located at the bottom of the guitar body. But what about the other strap button?

Some guitars, especially acoustics, don’t have a second button and they expect you to tie the strap on at the base of the neck’s headstock. This is fine and dandy….just take the little leather tie thingy, feed it under the strings on the headstock and attach it. My favorite of these are leather acoustic guitar strap because the tie is usually made of leather too and will not break.

Acoustic guitars with a second strap button usually locate it around the base of the guitar neck where it meets the body. Check and see if you have one there. You may even want to get your local guitar repair shop to install one there for you. Personally, that’s what I would do.
