The much anticipated Don Felder “Hotel California” 1959 Les Paul is finally available. Imagine playing that unforgettable legendary solo and more on an exact reproduction of the same guitar that Felder created and recorded the solo with.

The guitar comes in three options: VOS-Felder Burst, Aged-Felder Burst, and Aged/Signed Felder Bursts. The guitar features the 59 rounded neck, solid mahogany body with carved maple top, a Burst bucker #1 bridge pick-up and a Burst bucker #2 neck pick-up, a 22 fret rosewood fingerboard, and Vintage Klusan style green button tuners. So break out your picks and your wallets, as this guitar starts at around $13,500.00 msrp and a Signed model topping out at $17,650.00. But for the kind of sound this beauty will produce, it may be well worth the investment. And like a lot of other Paul’s, this may be worth be much more than it’s original price as time goes by. It may become one of the ultimate guitars for collectors.

One of the most nostalgic tones in the history of rock and roll has been created in the Don Felder “Hotel California” 1959 Les Paul. This is truly a guitar for the most dedicated players and collectors. And for the players who want just about the best tone available, you will find it with this blockbuster of a guitar.

I recently had the joy of coming home to a new piece of gear sitting on my doorstep, am Eventide PitchFactor pedal. You have to love new gear days. I quickly ran inside and scrambled to get the box open. Upon opening the box, I revealed the following:

- the Eventide Pitchfactor pedal
- a power supply (no batteries!)
- owners manual
- three cardboard quick reference cards

Features (as shown on their website at http://eventide.com/AudioDivision/Products/StompBoxes/PitchFactor.aspx)

    * 10 of Eventide’s signature stereo or mono pitch+delay effects:
o Diatonic
o PitchFlex™
o Quadravox™
o Octaver™
o HarModulator™
o Crystals™
o MicroPitch
o HarPeggiator™
o H910 / H949
o Synthonizer™
* Up to 4 voices of diatonic pitch shifting and up to 1.5 seconds of stereo delay
* Studio quality sound
* Guitar or bass compatible
* Built-in Tuner
* Software upgradeable via USB 2.0
* MIDI control via USB or MIDI in, out/thru
* Instant program change
* Real-time control with 10 knobs, MIDI, or expression pedal
* Tap tempo and MIDI clock sync
* 100 factory presets, unlimited through MIDI
* True analog bypass
* Rugged cast metal construction
* Reliable metal footswitches for instant preset access
* Mono or stereo operation
* Guitar or line level inputs and outputs

As you can see, there is no shortage of features. I especially noticed how rugged this stompbox was made. Very heavy and sturdy with nice big toggle switches. I tend to get a little excited sometimes while playing live which sometimes causes me to stomp a little hard on a pedal – I thinkn this one can take a lot of heavy stomps with no issues.

At first glance, this pedal looks a little intimidating with all the knobs, three switches, 1/4″ jacks and midi jacks. I can tell that there might be a bit of a learning curve in order to get the most out of this thing but I am up for the challenge. Luckily, Eventide has everything well laid out and labeled on the pedal itself so that learning to use this thing will be that much easier. They also included a couple cardboard quick reference cards which chart out different settings to make things that much easier.

Over the next couple weeks, I am going to play with the PitchFactor and will report back on my findings and let you all know how much I like it. Stay tuned in a couple weeks!

After nine painstaking months of research, testing and tweaking, the Wampler Pedals Black ‘65 Overdrive pedal has finally been released. It’s an amp-in-a-box which used to be known as the Blackface Overdrive, and sounds for all the world like a cranked mid-60s Fender amplifier in tonality, so much so that expert guitarist Brent Mason, who helped develop the pedal, can hardly tell the difference and “loves it.”

The Black ‘65 features Volume and Gain controls and a three-band equalizer for fine-tuning highs, mids and lows to compliment different aesthetic tastes. To achieve an extra gain boost that goes far beyond the cracking sound you would get from cranking up a traditional Fender amp, go ahead and throw the mini-toggle switch on the box.

Other details that make the Black ‘65 special are its completely original circuitry, a durable powder coated finish, an ultra-bright LED display, the high-grade film capacitors and resistors, a 9v power jack and battery connection and a completely true bypass. It includes Volume, Gain, Bass, Treble knobs, with a Gain-boost switch. Measuring two and a half by four and a half inches, this box stacks well with other pedals.

The Wampler Pedals Black ‘65 Overdrive pedal is available now, currently listed at $199.97. It is backed by a five-year, 100 percent satisfaction guaranteed warranty.

The guitarist looking to find a booster pedal for treble effects may consider the BSM RW-F Booster Pedal. This pedal emulates the classic sounds of the 1960s and 1970s that sought a rough earthy sound. It was designed with classical power pickups such as the PAF or P90 and the Mini Humbucker in mind to create a clean and crunch character. The warm balance between the base and treble prevents a muddy sound with the neck Humbucker while the bridge Humbucker gets definite and tight. The RW-F is powered only by a battery rather than an AC/DC source.

This pedal comes after the release of the RM Early Days Treble Booster and the “71/73 CM” Booster. The RW-F is specifically meant to capture Ron Wood’s tones from his days with Faces, a band featuring Rod Stewart before his mainstream breakthrough. BSM has also created pedals to capture the sounds of other legendary guitarists such as Deep Purple’s Ritchie Blackmore, Roger McGuinn, Rory Gallagher, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Brian May of Queen, Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, Keith Richards and a host of rockabilly guitarists. The company also hopes to develop a pedal for Tommy Bolin, the successor of Blackmore in Deep Purple.

One of the newest innovations to hit the market in the music and guitar world is none other than the Vox Joe Satriani Ice 9 Overdrive Pedal. You cannot ask for anything better than a product that is endorsed by this one and only guitar virtuoso. The Ice 9 Overdrive Pedal is the fourth pedal that Vox has put out with the guitar legend’s name on it. The pedal is named so in honor of Satriani’s 1987 hit album, Surfing With The Alien.

The Ice 9 is all about simplicity but at the same time keeping the sound that emulates Satriani himself.

The pedal will retail at about $175 USD. The Vox Joe Satriani Ice 9 Pedal is perfect for jamming and recording.

Musicians around the globe are always looking for ways to take their work with them in more portable and convenient ways. Vox has come to the rescue. The new Vox AC4TV Mini Practice Amp has been released and it is more portable than their previous AC4 models dating all the way back to the 1960s, having the same quality sound one expects from a Vox product.

Mixing yesterday’s EL84 power tube and the new technology of today’s 12AX7 powered pre-amp, Vox continues to deliver that pure British tone that everyone adores. With the attenuator switch, the power output can be set at 4 watts, 1 watt, or even 1/10 of a watt for a large variety of playing levels.

One of the best features of the Vox AC4TV Mini is the size. It measures a mere (WxHxD) 10.24 x 11.02 x 6.69 inches and only weighs 13.45 pounds. It is the perfect size amp to take on the road, to rehearsals, jam sessions, recording sessions, or wherever the desire leads.

Vox has also released the new Joe Satriani Ice 9 Overdrive Pedal, which has two voices of overdrive including vintage or modern. It has Gain and Volume knobs for distortion control and Ton and Bass controls for tone shaping. It has also included the popular “More” switch.

Intensify the quality of your jam sessions with Vox’s two new additions to their musical family with the ease of portability and great sound.

Just premiered at the Nashville Expo, the fantastic new Amptweaker TightBoost Pedal has all the high end tone and quality that musicians everywhere have come to expect from the phenomenally successful previous overdrive pedals, the TightDrive and the Bass TightDrive. Definitely delivering on the highly requested features from pedal lovers, this grand gain pedal boost provides a clean, clear gain power at a higher level of out put and with way less distortion.

High and Tight controls markedly expand the users capabilities for dialing in very tightly controlled distortion with laser like, pin point accuracy. The TightBoost holds the high end that you are usually losing in an ordinary wah pedal. Use the Mid EQ controls for a gradual blending and achieve a higher boost.

The new Amptweaker TightBoost pedal has a vibrant, tubular break up that is really nice and warm for driving hard. It gives the player everything they want and sacrifices nothing at all, while creating a crazy, high performance, parked wah pedal sound which adds to the specially requested features of this brand new booster all of the hard, powerful driving range that serious pedal aficionados are searching for. Includes Effects Loop and standard LED illuminated controls for easy adjustments and fine tuning.

Two new T-Rex Pedals are soon to be released – a phaser and a chorus/flanger unit. Coming in September 2010.

Danish effects manufacturer T-Rex Engineering, will be releasing the fifth in the Tonebug pedal line, the T-Rex Tonebug Chorus/Flanger, an absolute must have for every pedal fanatic. The Tonebug Chorus/Flanger has a deep, rich sound with a classy chorus mode and features a phenomenally fine flanger mode as well.

From the makers of the Tonebug Reverb, Tonebug Distortion and the Tonebug Overdrive, the Tonebug Chorus/Flanger is exactly the kind of high end, top of the line pedal players have come to expect from T-Rex. An exemplary piece of essential guitar gear, this pedal has a chorus and a flanger for those legendary freaky chords and superb effects.

The chorus allows you a slick and shiny sound, and the flanger has a dynamite and startling tone that will transform the sound of any electric or electric acoustic guitar to new heights. The T-Rex Tonebug Chorus/Flanger produces tones the listener will find simply unforgettable, and it is so uncomplicated with only two knobs for Rate and Depth.

Classic and budget friendly for any die hard guitarist, for a manufacturers suggested retail price of less than two hundred bucks, no pedal collection will ever be complete without the glorious sound of the Tonebug Chorus/Flanger, the newest Tonebug pedal from T-Rex.

The T-Rex Tonebug Phaser is the other one of the latest designs in the T-Rex Tonebug series. This phaser can be used in both modern and vintage modes. You can use the modern setting to create a phase that is crisp or thick or the vintage mode to get a classic analogue vibe. You only need to use the two controls to create your own unique phased sound. You may set the rate and depth to get a full range of sounds from rotation that is deep and slow to a light watery sound.

The T-Rex Tonebug Phaser uses a 9V battery as its power supply, so it is portable. The battery lasts from a half hour to a full hour. There are also external connectors like the input jack, the output jack and the 9V DC jack so you should have no trouble hooking up all your equipment to the phaser.

T-Rex phasers are designed to be uncomplicated so that even the novice can spend time working on his or her sound rather than working the phaser. They are also meant to be affordable so that they are within anyone’s budget. This Tonebug phaser costs about $200 and comes in a choice of colors.

The Merkin is an expansion of a classic fuzz design with three silicon transistors and bone-headed-simple “Volume” and “Texture” (gain) knobs.
What sets the Catalinbread Merkin fuzz apart from other fuzzes is its sweet, musical tone and wonderful touch sensitivity. You can make it clean up right from the volume knob on your guitar. The tone knob, too, actually has a useful function with the Merkin. If you use the neck pickup and roll the tone off a bit you can even get some octave up sounds, reminiscent of an old Octavia. The “Texture” knob turns the fuzz from meek to wild. This pedal is very versatile, having useful sounds at almost any setting, and it even works well for bass!

The Catalinbread Merkin fuzz also features the ability to run on a variety of power supplies. You can use different types of batteries for different tones – carbon will be warmer, alkaline harder – and even run it from an 18 volt supply (DC center negative) for real aggression and huge output. The pedal is designed with a great deal of volume boost built in, so you can push your amp for really over-the-top sounds.
