Learning Through Online Guitar Tutorials
On the web, there are an insane number of different guitar tutorials available. All different styles of music are all packed together in different electric guitar tutorials so that yo can literally learn any style of guitar in the comfort of your own home. The only thing that you need to do is practice and learn.
The first place that you can look into for these guitar tutorials is youtube. Want to learn a specific style or technique? There may be a guitar tutorial youtube video for it. The only problem here is that there are so many different videos available there, you can spend all your time looking for the right one. However, if you can take the time to sift through a number of different videos and pick out the good ones, you are well on your way.
What I usually do when I find a good guitar lesson video on youtube, is to subscribe to the channel that the video is in. Usually if a person’s one video is good, you will find many more under the same guitar teacher or video maker. you would not believe the number of talented and insane guitar players out there willing to share their knowledge in online video form. Of course, there are just as many if not more crappy players out there as well trying to do the same.
There are also many different websites that offer guitar lessons online for a fee. To me, even though they aren’t free, are the best. They are more well organized than trying to search through youtube and the teachers are always quite qualified. One of my favorites is Team Method Guitar. It costs $97 for the online version which seems like a lot but think what you would pay for regular guitar lessons. Regular lessons would be at least $15 per half hour lesson and you have to physically get there as well. With Team Method Guitar, you get it all for the price of less than seven regular lessons with a teacher and you can do it all at home on your own time. It includes all kinds of video lessons, rhythm jam tracks to play along with, playing and learning songs by ear, chord reference charts, advanced courses, learning the guitar caged system to help play on the entire guitar neck, a guitar tuner and metronome and so much more. I don’t know any guitar teacher that offers all that. You can even kind of try out what they have with a free email guitar introductory course (value of $37). Click here to sign up and check it out.
Personally, I love jumping on my computer and running through these lessons. The way I have it set up to play with the videos works very well also. Basically, I have my computer set up to work as a guitar amp as well by using a guitar interface to run into the computer. So I can then run the guitar tutorial videos on my computer and play along with them all through the same computer speakers. Works great with the backing tracks as well. Just solo along to the tracks after setting your volume levels and you are good to go.
So this is how I set it up:
guitar –> guitar interface –> computer –> computer speakers
Not to hard at all.
Check out these excellent computer interfaces for guitar so that you can set yourself up for this:
Line 6 Toneport - This is the one I use. Perfect one box does it all. Comes with all the software that you need to get going as well. It also has a subscription based service available that allows you access to exclusive guitar tones of famous guitarists (just download the tone settings to your computer and start playing), song tabs with guitar tones included, lessons, and much more. This one is so easy to set up and the tones are outstanding.
Native Instruments Guitar Rig 4 Kontrol Edition. Another one box does it all thing as well. Excellent product from what I have heard but honestly don’t have any experience using it.- Other guitar interfaces – still need to buy the software to go along with these plus they are not as advanced as the two above.
