The Fender Stratocaster has been a favorite of some of the world’s most celebrated musicians for over 50 years. The late Leo Fender, who died in 1991, unveiled this masterpiece in April of 1954 after it was designed by Leo, Freddie Travares, and George Fullerton. Not only is the Stratocaster the most popular of the Fender guitars, the Fender Stratocaster remains one of the most favored electric guitars in history. It has gained all of this adoration with a rich tone and a unique body shape that allows the vintage automobiles from the 1950s, by which its classic curves were inspired, to live on.
The sleek Maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, including a stylishly cut head with the tuners all on one side, was bolted to the Comfort Contour Body, which was made from choice Ash wood. A metal Truss Rod running through the neck facilitated the adjustment of the neck curve and was covered by a distinctive “skunk stripe” made from Black Walnut wood.
