After nine painstaking months of research, testing and tweaking, the Wampler Pedals Black ‘65 Overdrive pedal has finally been released. It’s an amp-in-a-box which used to be known as the Blackface Overdrive, and sounds for all the world like a cranked mid-60s Fender amplifier in tonality, so much so that expert guitarist Brent Mason, who helped develop the pedal, can hardly tell the difference and “loves it.”

Catalinbread have done it again with the new Catalinbread Merkin fuzz pedal. The Merkin is an expansion of a classic fuzz design with three silicon transistors and bone-headed-simple “Volume” and “Texture” (gain) knobs. It is designed to produce an old-fashioned sixties fuzz sound with a difference.
What sets the Catalinbread Merkin fuzz apart from other fuzzes is its sweet, musical tone and wonderful touch sensitivity. You can make it clean up right from the volume knob on your guitar. As can be seen on Peterson Tuner Product Forum, guitar enthusiasts have been clamoring for the release of the new Peterson StroboClip tuner since early this year.
The StroboClip Clip-On Strobe Tuner was released in the third week of April 2010. Although the tuner has a list price of 89.99, it can be purchased at a 20% discount of 69.99 from many major web retailers such as musiciansfriend.com. This model has the distinction of being the first clip-on strobe tuner ever released – strobe tuners, for which Peterson is best known, are the most accurate kind of tuners available, and the StroboClip is no exception, providing accuracy of 0.1 cent.
The StroboClip also makes use of Peterson’s trademark “Sweetened Tuning” capability, which allows the user to tell the tuner which instrument he or she will be tuning beforehand, whether a guitar, another stringed, or even a wind instrument, and get a more accurate reading. Also, the StroboClip is not housed in easily breakable plastic as many similar clip-on tuners, but in a solid metal casing, greatly increasing the use a potential buyer will get out of the product.
